King Rhomberg is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture and textile. His work occupies the crossroads of East/West and Classic/Contemporary as both a mediation of these modern dialectics, and a personal exploration of locality and identity.
Born to Chinese and Austrian parents, the artist draws from a deep wealth of cultural vocabulary offered by heritage. The vibrant streets of Hong Kong as his canvas, Rhomberg honed his artistic hand and eye through graffiti, and began the intuitive interaction between memory and the structures that bind it.

Using his life’s journey as a mode of information, King’s works are hallmarked by its localised indications, both real and imagined, that map the layered crevasses of his subconscious. A childlike spirit permeates through his canvasses, staffed by an assembly of characters that are engaged in states of play and mischief; figures that are projections of naivety, what Rhomberg views as the purest form of expression.


King Rhomberg (b. 1993, Hong Kong; lives and works in Vienna) attended the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien). He has exhibited at Vin Vin Galerie, Vienna; Art Austria, Vienna; Galerie Maier, Innsbruck; and A2Z Gallery, Hong Kong, amongst others. His work is held in the collections of Kee Club, Shanghai; Madame Fu, Hong Kong; and
Marden Art Fund, Manila
