Sofia Cruz Rocha, *1989, Mexico City. Sofia Cruz Rocha was born in 1989 in Mexico City. She lives and works in Vienna since 2014. Cruz Rocha studied Fine Arts at the Acedemy of Fine Arts ENPEG Esmeralda in Mexico City, and was invited to study at Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna by the prof. Martin Guttman at the end of her studies.

Cruz Rocha’s work links contemporary art and hermetic teachings through an extensive body of artwork using media such as painting, installation, and sculpture. It explores universal laws, the connection between the microcosmos and macrocosm, along the evolution of human consciousness.

Her work has been shown internationally at Macura Museum, Belgrad (2016), Kunstraum Niederösterreich, Meno Parkas Gallery (Kaunas) (2021), Museo de San Ildefonso, Mexico City (2014), and the Museo Nacional de Arte MUNAL, Mexico City (2008).

In 2015 she won the grant Financing Project by Akbild Vienna, Austria and was awarded with FONCA grant for Afecciones- a house as a walkable installation, in 2014. Her work has been published at: Les Novueau Riches (2021); Stayinart (2020); Kunstforum International (2016); Circulo A (2015).
